A good day!
Nothing technical here, just a thanks to the Pelican Parts BBS for inspiring me to have a good day. I was sitting at the computer today reading the boards when I came across this-
Confession and Revelation So, it makes me smile and then I think to myself, why am I just sitting here reading about other people's Porsches when I have my own in the garage. I just got my 82 SC back from a $15K "while it's out" engine and transmission rebuild and it was sunny and clear here today, so I burned a 1/4 of a tank gas just driving around doing the break-in thing. Nothing too stressful for the car, just me out driving what was my dream car growing up, listening to a Billy Squire cd and enjoying the new factory short shift kit. A good day! ![]() |

I did the same today. Another 90 miles! I put over 9k on my rebuild last year - and those are not daily driving miles ... just open road fun.
Billy Squire is good stuff too. But I prefer the sound of the engine while driving the 911. |

Bob, how clear were the roads today? Not that it's no fun to run our cars in the snow, but some here cringe at the idea.

mca - I too like just the sound of the engine, but the Blaupunkt that was in the car when I bought it crapped out and when I had the rust around the rear window repaired the body shop got some media in the rear speakers and they crapped out, so it got a new stereo and speakers to go along with new paint, fresh engine, fresh transmission, new struts, new bushings and the short shift kit. It all cost way more than I'll ever get back should I try to sell the car, but that really isn't the point at this stage in my life. I graduated high school in 1982, bought a 1982 Porsche 27 years later, so it was me in my dream car listening to music from the early 80's. In fact, since my wife didn't want to go with me, I couldn't get a date - so it really was just like high school!
DUK - The closer you were to the water, the less snow you got. The roads were clear everywhere I went. There was some sand on the roads between Suffolk and Smithfield, but the most snow I saw was the dusting on my back porch. |

yeah, I'm currently in VA right now, on 6 month loan from TX. Couldn't bring the P-car with me, I'm relying on mass transit and a rental Mazda 3. Ugggh. Really missing her right now.
A sure sign of my insanity...I told the wife, who is back home, to make sure and take her out for a brisk drive at least once a week. God, what was I thinking?!?
