How do you remove a ball joint that does not want to leave? I have tried the special socket and even tried using a hammer and punch. The problem is that it bent my punch! Since I planned to have them rebuilt anyway, am I better off just replacing the a-arms?
Thanks, Rich |

Try heat, then apply liberal dose of hammer.

1. Use the socket
2. Use a impact gun 3. The nut is torqued to about 184 ft-lbs 4. Most people have a hard time pulling that much torque (OB's etc). So go the air route no muss no fuss |

If it's still bolted up to the car, you should be able to break it loose with a breaker bar. Not sure what to do if it's off unless you have a nice vise.

Place a jack under the special tool and apply pressure from the botton - keeps the tool from coming off. Then muscle the heck out of the thing.
if that doesn't work - use a dremmel tool to cut the nut off. You're replacing the ball-joint anyways, and the new nuts aren't that expensive... -Wayne
