Sway Bar Install 79 Targa SC WTF

Well, I finally got around to going for the installation of a 22mm Carerra sway bar on my 79 Targa SC which is stock with 20mm sway bar. Got the old one out after a lot of shoving and prodding but putting the new one in was a bugger.

I got it in but now wonder what the "correct" procedure is. Royal pain in the arse.

Also changed out the front brake pads with PBR Ceramic and front rubber brake lines with new rubber lines.

Note to Motive users. Be sure you have a gasket in there when you pump up some pressure.......or prepare for a hell of a mess.

the bigger sways will require a bigger bushing. if you are using the original bushing unless they are VERY worn you may not get them in. although a new set of the correct size are going to be a pain in the arse. drop one of the struts from the tower to lower the a-arm and run it past on the other side and bringing it back to the side you've dropped. lube is yir friend....

Mholbrook38, how does the car handle with the 22mm front sway bar? I'm planning to do this upgrade this weekend. Any tips?

The car feels much more solid in the front. Less lean in corners. Have not much time on it but It is a good improvement. Tomorrow I'm putting on a Tarett rear bar and new brake lines on the rear. That should do it for handling for a while. Next upgrade under the car will be Turbo tie rods.
