I am in the process of building a home and I need to provide specs to the mechanical engineer so that my garage can accommodate a scissor lift.
I would like to recess the floor so that the lift can be placed in the recess and sit flush with the rest of the floor - see Joined the scissor lift owner's club! . Is there a generic / safe size (length x width x height) that I could pass on to the engineer for constructing the recess since I have not yet selected a lift? If not, can some of you happy owners point me to your lift with a link so that I can look at options and make a decision? I know that there needs to be 4+ inches of concrete over CA6 gravel below the recess. Just need to nail down the dimensions. Thanks, Craig

This was the lift I was going to buy before the economy decided I should be "temporarily retired." I know several folks with this one, and the company is close enough to me (Indy) I was going to go pick it up on my trailer.
They make a couple versions and provide specs like these with each lift. Pro6MR Portable Scissor Lift - Greg Smith Equipment Sales, Inc

If you are building from scratch, why not plan for a 4 post or 2 post lift? You need a minimum of 10'-6" (11' would be better) and high lift tracks on the garage doors.

It would be better but unfortunately it isn't an option. |
