Anybody try the Gulf 10W60 racing oil ?

Hey guys,

Been using Mobil 1 15W50 for the last three years but it's no longer available in my area and one of our local Porsche tuning shops uses Gulf oil in all the race cars they support and some of their customer cars as well.

From the engine teardowns they perform the feedback on normal wear is excellent as compared to Redline,Mobil and Motul oil that they previously had experience with ...
Thinking of going the Gulf way for my next 12 liter order, does anybody have any feedback or comments regarding this product ?

Cheers !
Phil

Same Gulf oil that makes Gasoline?

Id personally stick with the tested and recommended.. What your shop uses is imaterial. I took my car to a very well respected shop that came highly recommended by people on this board for a valve adjustment. I was just too lazy to do it myself.. and they topped it off with Casrtol GTX... id use Valvoline VR1, Brad Penn, etc. They are cheap enough that it makes no sense to try something untested.

I would expect that the detergent package wouldn't be intended for the extended use it sees in a street car. I don't see any reason to recommend going this direction as opposed to using the well researched and recommended options discussed (ad nauseum) on this forum.

I'll echo brads911sc:

Phil,

I haven't seen Gulf oil down here. I've been using VR1.
