245X45X16 on 7" Fuchs?

I located 245X45X16 Toyo Proxes T1Rs to put on my '81 SC, but I note in Toyo's specs that their recommended rim width range is "7.5-8.0-9.0" for this size tire. I'm running the stock 7" rims on the rear of my car. Is this going to be a problem? I'd like to hear from any of you running this size.

Thanks, as always.

Should be OK in the back but I believe the ride will feel a little mushy. The widest I would put on is the 225/50. IMHO The optimal tire for a 7" is the 205/55. I have two sets of 7's & 8's (street/track) and run 205 and 225's respectively. My car sits a shade below euro ride height and the fenders are rolled and I get no rubbing at full lock.

In keeping with what Jorian just said, I would not run 245/45 on a 7" wheel. As a matter of fact, I probably wouldn't put them on 8" wheels. They probably are best on 9" wheels.

245s are too big on 7s.

Agreed. They are good on 8s and 9s. 225 is good on a 7.

a 245 on a 7" rim will move around too much, don't put it on

Look at the bright side: you now have good reason to go get a pair of 16x9 Fuchs for the rear.

That's the size I'm running on my 9's.
