Fabric dye results

I purchased a set of seats that had some fading in areas. Looks like maybe the car sat in the sun alot as the worse was at the shoulder pad which would be next to the side window glass.

Anyway, I bought some SEM color dye in Satin Black and touched up the faded ares. I think the first seat turned out well. I held off on the other until I could take pics. The black leather parts were taped off.

The trick I found was to spray a light coat and then brush the fabric with a stiff bristle brush. A about 3 coats took care of it. I did a light misting over the rest of the seat and brushed that to blend the colors. (It sounds more technical than it really is.)

The drivers side turned out just as good, I think.

In the car. The flash makes some strange colors but they look great even with the blue interior.

Wayne, How is the dye job holding up? My 1981 911SC Euro GP White Targa had the same seats in it , that are now in a box on the shelf. I removed them installing standered LW black leather seats that are nice but don't have the same suport and fit my body like the CORBEAU seats. Because they were in a Targa, they also are faded yet still in very good condition. Do you think that the SEM dye will hold up for every day use?

Done correctly, the dye job should be fine. Read the directions and do light coats only. Brush after each coat. I used a tire brush with medium stiff bristles.
