84 Carrera - Putting it all back together...

Well - New Year... time to get busy putting my car back together after a long hibernation...really long, like 5 years long...

Details - 84 Carrera with 39k original miles in for a "few mods", mirror removal, antenna hole removal, bumper mods, full repaint etc.

Unfortunately things come up and time goes by - but now is the time to move forward and get the beast back in fighting shape.

So the car has been stripped of virtually everything - weight wise. Weight loss is/was the key here so the interior was completely removed. Anything that was not needed for a drive on a warm, sunny day - was removed. Car will be used for street/drivers ed. Bumpers have been modified, shaved and tucked (about 7mm, not much but just enough without making the back or front look snouty)

After removing all the weight the car looks like a 4X4 and will have to be adjusted ride height wise. A couple of folks have requested pics of the bumpers and the muffler (rear exit mods). I took a few others of various things - I will add to this thread as things get done - it will take a bit to finish but this should serve as a journal/ thrread for getting it all back together. As always thanks to many of you for the motivation and inspiration with all of your projects to get mine going again.

The mess -

The rear bumper -

Nice!
How did you mount your rear bumper after filling the mounting holes?
Where did you purchase the right side skirt for your dual exhaust?
I like the door panels as well...nice and clean!

I think Fikse have been around for some time - they are 8's and 9's in terms of offset I need to go back and look that up - no spacers and no rubbing (225 front and 255 rear) (17's)

Reverse grade 8 carriage bolts. The right side skirt came with the RUF muffler as a kit.

Thanks -

The interior panels were custom from Bob at AppBiz in grey/beige - I like that there are no fastners showing - makes it clean. I have an RS carpet set in grey/beige sliverknit as well that needs to go in once the roll bar is set.

I have a never installed speaker delete rear parcel shelf from Bob as well in beige as well that I am not going to use -

Is that a NOS Ruf sport muffler, or a re-painted one?

Where in the world did you get it...they are NLA.

I got it about 8 years ago? - I had it ceramic coated. There was a Canadian outfit (Weissach?) if I remember right that sold RUF parts - and yes I apparently got one of the last ones as I directed a few folks there over the years with no luck.

Its a nice piece with a nice sound (I don't think there is much in there) it's fairly light and (rebuilt) well, as it is simply a modified example of the original.
