2-way seat switch problem
My '89 driver side seat rear adjustment will only move in the down direction, the 2-way switch won't adjust the rear of the seat upward. I suspected the 2-way switch so I pulled the seat and removed the rocker button portion of the aft switch from it's back half. When I did, two silver BB's fell out (Oh S***!) and I'm not sure how they go back in so that I can reinstall the switch.
I'd rather not spend the $90 on ONE new driver side aft switch which still looks like it would be a PIA to install. does anyone happen to know where the BB's fit back in? TIA cloud |

The very same thing happened to me many years ago, and, because of the same concerns, bought a new switch. Typically, these switches can be brought back to life by removing the switch from the seat, squirting some contact cleaner (NOT WD-40) into the small holes on the switch assy, flushing out the crud while rocking the switch up-down ect... to move the seat. The "divine" BB's are in the switch's rocker arm to prevent the switch from locking up. You could open up the other switch for a comparison, but a better bet is to find a used one, or help on the website. Good luck, Gerry |
Howdy
Be thankful you didn't open up your 4 way switch and have to assemble it again! Don't ask how I know. It can be done, but man, does it take patience. Just buy a new switch... Good luck! -Jack |
This might help your re-assembly from an old post.
Please check other posts. Good Luck, Gerry http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1262633099.jpg |
BB's "sitting on top of the springs".
Perfect! that's what i needed to know. now with any luck... yeah right! |
More info.
The "center pin" also has a spring under it, so don't accidentally drop it and lose the spring. Also, the switch mechanism will only fit back together one way. The little tabs that secure the switch to the mounting plate will only fit one way. My suggestion. Do a dry fit to make sure you have it all aligned. Also place towels down around where you are doing it, so if you drop any BBs, they don't bounce. Good luck Jack |
parts haven
I had a simliar issue with the ball bearing falling out; however, my switch was defective to start.
I purchased a good/used switch from Parts Heaven Welcome for less than $50 |

did get the switch back together, but no joy. Guess I'll start looking for a replacement.
