Another Clifford Alarm Thread...
 

So tonight I had to re-do some of the in-line fuses for the amplifier in my car. Undoing the battery, etc.

Hook it back up, keyfob for the door locks and alarm doesn't work anymore. LED on the dash stays solid.

I honestly have spent more time removing old alarm systems like this than repairing them. Is there a reset method?

Car is an 87 Carrera.

Don't know about Clifford or reset and generally am not a fan of aftermarket units. That said- have had this UNGO one in different cars for 10 yrs plus and have it in current 911- works perfectly every time.

I'm definitely leaving the alarm system in there for now. It's worked pleasantly -- well, as pleasantly as a Clifford alarm can -- and the locks/arming worked fine until last night.

If disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it don't work, what's the next step? I don't exactly have time and money lying around to gut this alarm and install a new one...

It is in valet mode. depending on the model, you need to turn the key and flip the valet switch,OR depending on the model hold both lock and unlock buttons on the remote(I think while the door is open) If it has a push stlye switch instead of the regular toggle it will be different.

I just double checked... Remote has a single button, alarm unit has no buttons on it...

I have a Clifford sabre there is a reset method it involves the toggle switch button under dash. Steps are something like: switch on/off 27 times, push lock/unlock 13 times, get out and run around car 3 times. note: only works on the third Friday after a full moon in the month of July.

There is a switch somewhere unless it has been removed. If it is a single button remote it is not as advanced as the the above poster mentioned (except for runnning around the car he is pretty close to how insane there G4 type units were)
Look for a silver toggle switch or a black push latch type two sided switch.
It has been plenty of years since I have touched these but it soudns like it is from that time. Try to find a model number on the alarm brain.

I have a Clifford and mine did the same thing, just up and stopped working. LED stays lit at all times, that is until it decides to flash for a couple seconds for no apparent reason. It's a piece of crap no matter how you slice it. I am trying to figure it out as well, I will post back if I do. Judging from the spider web of wiring coming off the car battery that leads God knows where, the PO must of installed this thing with what I'm guessing was one pair of pliers and 2 cases of beer.

How the alarm works is quite simple...

Cut ignition and/or fuel pump. It ties into the fusepanel in the front trunk, door jamb switches, central locking and the horn (or their alarm siren). Removing it would be a breeze, but I really do like having the locks work at the push of a keyfob.

I'll spend some time tonight looking for the reset switch. I've seen them before on other alarms on early cars...

I am also having problems with my Cliford alarm system. It is a Falcon II model and doesn't have a remote keyring but just a small fob with what looks like a speaker jack.
Has anyone had any success resetting these alarm systems ? As removing it looks to be quite a big job.
