CIS Plastic Fuel Line replacement?

I think its time to replace the plastic fuel lines on my CIS. Plus, I have the engine out.

I have found 3 different sizes on Pelican but im not sure what size I would need and how much. They sell by the Meter.

I would imagine I would need at least a meter for each run which would include:

6 runs from fuel distributor to injectors
1 run from fuel distributor to WUR
1 run from fuel distributor to Cold Start injector

Then there is the the supply hose to the fue distributor which looks like a different size and what about that combination hose with a T in it?

Does anyone know the correct sizes and can I get this hose over the counter?

IMHO, you cannot use regular rubber fuel lines to replace your OEM lines because the ends have special crimp on them.

Most people replace the plastic lines on '78-'80 with steel lines from later '81-'83 which is a different can of worms to exchange/match fittings and /or nipples.

Do a search or maybe start a new thread to find out what works when replacing Nylon fuel lines with steel on SC's.

Why are you replacing the lines? Is there a problem or you just feel "it is time"?

FWIW, my 1973 still has almost all if it's orignal nylon lines (one failed at the nipple) and there are no signs of immement failure on the remaining ones.

IMHO, you are asking for lots of problems if you replace them for no compelling reason. Read this for one guys story: CIS misfire

Harry,

this is a valid point...i havent had any problems (knock on wood) I just had the engine out and have easy access to the lines. No cracks except for the soft outer covering on some.

so these lines are good for a while I guess.

Kemo,

Save all the metric fittings from your old fuel lines. Replace the fuel lines with 'fuel injection hoses only!!!!! Have the fuel lines crimped at a local hydraulic shop and you're ready to go. You could also replace at this time the fuel line to FD and the return line to the tank by saving those precious metric fittings.
HTH.

These guys sell the correct fuel line:
CIS LINE & FITTINGS
This looks to be the easy way to install the new line on the barbed fittings:
CIS LINE & FITTINGS
These guys make up a complete set of braided lines for you. This is what I am going to do, they wanted 240.00 for a set for my 2.7. Looks like quality stuff:

Tony,

I would be wary of using rubber fuel injection hose. See the thread I included in my post above.
