Suspension Refresh - Spring Plate Cover
I am on the ER Polybronze/Mono Ball suspension refresh journey that many others seem to be on at this time. I have the front done (ER polybronze, turbo tie rods and new bearings in the steering rack. Looks great, tight steering and very smooth on my 200 yard drive over two speed-bumps.
On to the back. Doing Monoballs and ER PB for the trailing arm, drivers side easy: passenger side a b%%^tch. Down to one final problem that has me stumped. When I tried to put on the spring plate cover, I can't get the holes to line up. This is with the bushings in, but no Torsion bar. They aren't even close. It is as if the torsion tube is bent or the face where the threaded fittings are was hit in an earlier life o the car. There is no visible rust and the tube itself looks straight. It does look like the weld on the threaded fitting where the cover bolt has a spacer (lower rear) has a crack in the weld. The spring plate itself does not seem to be cocked and all was fine with the Neatrix that were in before. I ordered a new cover from our host and I am hoping the old one is just bent. If that's not it, would a body shop be able to realign the threaded fittings? Did I mention the front looks great and the drivers side was easy? It's always something ![]() Kinsley
