Removing ID Plate on A-Pillar
Has anyone ever removed the ID Plate on the driver side A-pillar.
I need to replace the black vinyl on the A-pillar and the ID Plate is riveted over the vinyl. I just want to make sure if I drill it out, I will be able to replace it exactly as it sits in there now. Thanks, nick '70 911 E |

It never crossed my mind, not to drill out the fastners, rebuild my interior and put the thing back in. Gee, your not cutting out the number stamped in the chassic and then welding it pack in! I did the same thing to the metal plate in the front area too. Thought that if I was going to media blast the bare chassic it would be OK to remove it. I belive here in Washington the WSP has stopped there visual pre-registration inspection of vin #'s.

Nick- you should contact your local DMV. Here in Ga. if the public vin plate is missing/ altered/ damaged we need to apply for a replacement public vin which is then rivited to the driver's side door post, and a State Policeman needs to inspect it and sign a form. It is a very easy fix, and not that big of a deal... here.
