How can I tell what profile cams I have got

I picked up a set of cams for my 993 donk 3.8 re-build, they say 964 super sport but the guy i bought them off said they were GE60 profile.

Is there a method by which i can id the the profile? I have a set of stock cams in my motor, which is/was 993 VRAM, I belive I can use the SS profile with a stock intake where as a GE60 needs itb's or carbs

Most cam shops stamp the profile name on the end faces of the cam. If there isn't anything there, then you need to put them on a cam profiling machine (easiest). You can also profile it yourself in the engine / cam housing with a degree wheel and a dial indicator (best when digital) and plot the cam curve that way.

Hope this helps,

George

yeah it says 964 cup, but the guys said they were a GE60 and the cams have be re-ground so not sure, I was wanting to run ITB's and go GE80 so might send them to camgrinder for a re-grind

Like I said, just get a degree wheel and a dial indicator and you can record the lift per degree, go 360 on both lobes and if you plot the data here, I bet folks can ID the profile.
