Great Deal on Falken RT-615

I try to keep an eye on tire deals for my car as I will need some new RT-615's this year. The tires grip is great though wear is not so great as I will get 6-8000 miles on the rears much more on the fronts. Discount Tire Direct has a $80.00 rebate on a set of 4 RT-615's. An example (what I have on my car) 225/45-17 & 255/40-17 is $490 shipped with the $80 rebate delivered price is $410

Reate is good through April 30 2010 Promotions - Discount Tire Direct

Thanks for the heads up! I have these on my car now and really like them. Maybe I will get another set in the spring, since the rebate is good until April 30th.

track: my rears were great (225/R16). Unfortunately I could not get a set in 205/R16 for the front so I was running on old crap... Rears wore evenly and well for the 2 days I ran. Both 'days were at night, though it was Forida in the summer so it was still warm at night. I like the tire.

Falken RT-615 was the tire for SCCA street tire class a couple years ago. Since then a few more have come out (RE-01 and 11, Kumho XS, Dunlop Star Spec) but unless you're gunning for top times 615s are still very good tires especially considering their price.

My experience is with Audis and BMWs running the RT-615, but I never got more than 3000-4000 miles out of them. Like Won said, they were the hot setup for "autox" a few years back but many other tires have left them in the dust. On the track they were OK for maybe 4-5 laps then got really greasy and went away, as would be expected of a tire designed for fast warmup and limited run time in autox'ing. That said, I know people who've used them for track use as a cheap alternative to chewing up their street tires. But they're not even close to an r-comp tire, even a well heat cycled one. Again, this is on heavier sedans but ones prepped for track, not a 911.
