Good Karma story

No direct Porsche content except that my friend and I both own P-cars.

Had a friend come over yesterday to do the brakes on his SUV. Get the front off the ground and find that the calipers are held on with 21mm 12-point bolts. Since I don't have a 21mm 12-point socket ran down to my FLAPS, which is generally pretty good. Asked at the counter for said tool and got a negative response (sorry we don't carry it - try Sears).

Another customer (who I did not know) in line speaks up and says: "Hey do you live around here? I've got large 12-point sockets. You can borrow them." I said sure, a bit incredulous actually. Leaving the store he hopped onto a vintage BMW bike and I followed him home. He handed me the sockets, didn't want a deposit or my address or a phone number - nothing. We chatted a bit and he restores vintage motorcycles as a hobby.

Sure enough the 21-mm 12-point socket did the trick. I returned the socket with an appropriate "rental fee" (nice bottle of wine).

I thought this was a really cool, totally unexpected happening.

That means you 'need to pay it forward', sometime, somewhere. You'll know.

Nice rental fee. Good on ya.

Nice to see people like that are still around, I'm not sure I would have been as neighborly. I've lost more tools, ladder's, paint, wax,.......than I can imagine. Of course most of those were all to friends or family.....:>(

Thats a good story, Alex and a shining example of the potential of the Human Race and how it can function when people follow the "Golden Rule",....

I wish it happened FAR more often,.................

Excellent news! I am delighted to hear the car community continues to have nice folks around. If we each follow this example the DIY world shall thrive.
