73 1/2 T fuel distributor leak

I have a 73 1/2 T engine and the fuel distributor (I think that is what its called) leaks gas into the air box. This seems to happen if I haven't run the engine for a couple of weeks. Once the leak stops it doesn't resume if I drive the car frequently. However it leaks a lot until it quits. The engine is in a 914, but I don't see why that should matter.
Can anyone give me some ideas of whats going on?
