Porsche Crest 280° F Oil Temp gauge -- what year(s)?

Does anyone know what year(s) had this gauge?

Porsche Crest Hey Wayne! Can't reply to threads -- AFTER posting new topic???

I guess that is one way to slow down my post count!

I posted new topic ... used an old image in the 'Ultimate' image upload directory; that wouldn't take; tried to edit, can't upload -- or append from 'edit' screen!

Can't reply to any topic now -- every time it goes to the new topic post screen!

I believe they were used in 65-67 911's. What do I get?

I am not so sure about that Michael - didn't they have a different colour (green writing rather than white as per Warren's picture)?

Or am I seeing the colour wrong?

Either way, I just checked and "normal" has 180 and 210 rather than 175 and 210.

I think I remember reading it in the Guide to Originality if anyone has that and can look it up.

For what it's worth, the original gauge in my '72 (July '72 build date) has the highest reading number at 300. Hmmmmmmm?

Warren, not sure which years had the 280° gauge but my 1974 had the option for the 300° gauge.

Now Matt, if I gave you back your copy, you'd just go and lose it or get grease on it. It is much safer with me .

I dont know what years the club sport car is. But I would say it came out of a club sport. 93 or 94 \. I am still learning about my 72S.... But it is clearly a newer style.

CamB your right about the colors. the 65-67 used those numbers but it was indeed black with green numbers. Dang, I thought I had it.

Had a look at the originality book.

It is tricky to get a definitive opinion based on that.

There was a picture of one of these for pre-68 with the green writing (bonus points to Michael!). There was also a picture of a '68 gauge with different celsius (sp?) numbers to the later celsius gauges. So.... it may be from the '68 "crossover" year before the LWB cars? Just a guess.
