Junk yard find - early 911
Came upon this wrecked 911 today. Looks like it was in a bad accident, and has been in this yard for quite some time. I was surprised that the engine was still in it. Any idea on what year it is (I couldn't get around to the front to look at the ID badge.) Anything worth trying to get from this car?

Car looks to be a 70-71. If there is a flap on the passenger side above the rear wheel arch it's a '72. As there are 5 'vertical bars' on the grille it's post '69. The engine appears to have Zenith carbies (71-72).
As to salvage... Engine grille Quarter windows Bumperettes can be cleaned up or re-chromed Any of the anodised bright work Glass could clean up well The engine 'could' be worth getting to pick a part salvagable items...

Hmmm. I've been looking for another challenging project but I was hoping for something difficult; that car has too much good metal to start with . . .
At face value, if the engine turns I'd grab it and the glass.

I think it's safe to say that's not an aluminum decklid.
FWIW it's probably an idea giving it a good going over. you never know what you'll find. |

Not a 72 you can see the oil cap in the engine bay. Probably not an S because the calipers look like standard issue.

I think Fishcop pretty much nailed it 70-71' T, If the CDI is still in it it's worth at least a buck fifty. Offer them twenty for it. they'll probably take it
Also the front turn signals and the fan assembly are worth grabbing.

horn grills, rear shocks maybe, sway bars, wiper arms, antenna, gas cap if still there, gas tank if not rusted, if there are any interior bits still in ok shape then take them but I suspect they are all rusted from the open roof.

Bahaha...
Anyway... How much do they want for it? 1. Engine 2. Gearbox 3. Shifter 4. Glass 5. Trim 6. Hubs, Steering rack... (lots under the car) 7. Pedal cluster 8. Fuel Tank?... (Is it rusty?) 9. Wiring loom... (for spares only) It may look like crap but you'd be surprised what's there. Just lots of time and hard work.

Lots of little bits and pieces left on it, motor, trans, carbs, drums for the 914 conversion guys, front and rear suspension..... If you can buy the whole car and have room to take it apart (and depending on what they want for it) you could make a few $$'s off it.

muffler if its good. I'd like the chrome tip on the exhaust. I don't need the muffler though.
