Another MFI question
 

Hello- This time a fuel line routing question. If you consider the mounting bracket of the filter console as 12 o'clock, the 1972 owner's manual for my car shows the incoming line from the fuel supply pump at 3 o'clock, and the return from the injection pump at 9 o'clock. However the service manual, section F, p 12sf shows the opposite. Does this matter? Which is correct? Thanks for your answer.

It absolutely matters.

I suspect you have the incorrect diagram. Porsche published an incorrect diagram in the Factory Workshop Manual AND in Christophorus in ’69. There was a Supplement to the manual with the correct diagram but they never published any retraction or acknowledgement of the error as far as I have ever seen.
