I've also been wondering about options for non-A/C P-cars. There are some unusual 12-volt portable A/C and evaporative cooling units available (e.g. Swampy.net). Has anyone had the nerve to try one of these?

Hey Mickey, err, Bob... I'm in South San Jose and it's not THAT hot today. My 944 has AC and its just been recharged to I have no problem. I do recall your dilemma. Having has several cars without AC. Pep-Boys does have some fans the connect up to the cig lighter. The JC Whitney catalog should also have a few solutions. My best was to bring along a small personal battery fan that I picked up at a local supermarket and combined with a misting type squirt bottle, filled with water, I was ok.

We've even had the nerve to put this kit together: http://www.seinesystems.com/Images/MPC-Nozzle.jpg MPC (Multi-Purpose Cooling) is a mobile misting system for cooling hot parts. Could even be used to cool overheated bodies. Sherwood Lee http://www.seinesystems.com |
