Old Subject New Question on Short Shifters!

We have been over a lot of things but no where do I remember seeing anyone stated that using the W/M Short Shifter does not allow full usage if the 5th and Reverse Lock out Tangs on the Shifter Plate!

I started to notice that the lever was Jumping over to the left a few seconds after I had Shifter to 5th gear. Then by feeling through the rubber Boot I found that the Bracket on the SHift lever was only about 3/16" on the plate and Reverse was about 1/4 inch on the vertical Tab on the Bracket.

I did some adjusting but this only made things worse as far as shifting is concerned. I bought the SENE Shifter Kit to lock out 1st & 2nd Gear so that I could get 3rd a lot easier and now seeing this I am wondering if I should simply go back to the stock where the throws are very long, but I can Hit every gear?

Anyone else notice these things? What about the "Factory Short Shifter", Does it come with a different top plate? I noticed the instructions were a little different in the Sene Kit if that was used!

My shifter is a Frankenstein but the main lever is WM but the guts are factory short shifter. I found the same thing with the tangs not quite lining up. I bent the lever tang gently until it worked.

I also use a spring on the shifter to align it to the 3-4/neutral plane. It works very well and fits me and my shifting habits perfectly.

Sometimes, you just need to get creative.

(I also use a Ford Probe shift knob but that is neither here nor there.)

This place Scares me! I also did some research to see that the "Factory" Short Shift assembly Kit has a "Different" top plate which My guess has the tangs closer together and when I saw that My question is how well witll that work with a WM AND the Siene Shifter assembly where I have 1&2 spring loaded, 3&4 no spring! FOr the amount of money and time I am now spending, I could just about have bought the $600 High Tech shifter!

At Least I now KNOW what my options are and can make my own combination
