Bench test clutch?

Is there a way to test whether a clutch will slip with the engine/transmission out of the car?

For example, my high school physics class dealt with horsepower and torque in English terms. If I recall correctly, 200 ft. lbs. of torque meant a 1 lb. weight on a 200 ft. long arm would be enough to cause the resistance to be met. In a perfect world, a 201 ft. long arm would overcome the resistance. Put into Porsche terms, if one had a clutch capable of 200 lbs. of torque, one could put a suitable socket onto the crankshaft pulley and a wrench with a 4 foot long handle on the crankshaft pulley and with the axles locked in place, a weight of 51 lbs. on the handle would be sufficient to cause the clutch to slip.

Does anyone have any experience with "bench testing" to check whether a clutch might slip before it is installed in the vehicle? Is the above a valid test?

Many thanks,
Jerry Weiland
