Talking Boxster hard-top confirmed?

Hi,

Everyone get their June issue of Panorama?

First I just have to say that I'd give a kidney to have that orange RSR.

But did you also read "European Windows" about the Boxster hard-top? I remember there was a thread a while back about this, but it seemed like rumors at best. But Pano says it could go into production by the end of next year.

Last I heard, the hardtop was cancelled??

Also, did you see the piece about the "Sport Sound Exhaust" system option for the 996? No increase in performance, just louder. Hmmmm ..... isn't that the definition of ricer?

They mention the Boxster coupe speculation in the latest issue (by US standards) of Porsche and 911 World and pretty much poo-poo the idea, claiming that Porsche would never cut into their 911 sales by offering a Boxster coupe, since the cars are already seen as too close in performance to warrant the huge price differential. I've got to agree - a Boxster S coupe would cut into the high-end market quite a bit.
