911 Shipping Recommendation

Hi,

I just accepted a position in Austin, TX so I am looking for a recommendation on car transport for my '69. The car is need of paint and body work so I am completely comfortable having it moved on an open truck. I've done a bit of research and have read some horror stories about DAS, but other than that I am still in the discovery phase. All comments and suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,

Sam

Check out Intercity Transport. They moved my 911 from Denver to Detroit- no problems.

sammygon1,
I also just had a 911 shipped from Wisconsin to metro Detroit area myself with Intercity and they were GREAT. Very professional. They delivered my car to a shop that I wanted it sent to and it was no problem what so ever. I highly recommend them. They were also one of the cheaper quotes that I got.

Intercity is coming on Friday to pick up my 997. They are crazy busy right now so you'll probably have to schedule it a week or two in advance.

I've heard good things also about Fedex Auto Transport. They are usually about the same price as Intercity from what I'm told.

Intercity moved mine from California to Maryland a while back. It was one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had.

I would highly recommend Intercity Lines as well.

They carried a BMW across the country for me last year, and were great to work with.

One observation regardless of shipper.

Make sure you're there when they "Cinch" down you car. To avoid any suspension, sway bar, bumper damage, tire/fender rubbing. Show them where to attach any/all straps & don't let them "Herc" on them.

My two cents from experience.

Things is DAS "terminal to terminal enclosed" is like 1/3 the cost of any others... But they have a spotty reputation... I've used them three times for 5 cars total, never once had a problem... But some people have, so I can't cast a vote....
