Alignment Question - I think
 

I have posted about this before, but the response seemed to be that it was a facotry anomaly more than likely, and it looked like I was not the only one that had the issue. Well, I just put 9" wheels on the rear and it brought this issue back to "light" for me.

The "issue" is this: my right rear wheel does not stick out as far as the left one does, causing a visual imbalance on the car looking at the rear. Is there anything I can do short of a spacer on one side, that might "straighten" things up so that the two wheels are balanced. It also looks to me like my right rear has more negative camber than the left - maybe this is the what is causing the visual imbalance.

I can't imagine that the car is just built that way. Are you sure the offsets are the same on the rear wheels?

I noticed this last winter. Took the car and had the alignment checked and the camber adjuster came loose. Looks fine now the camber adjusted.

I am due anyway, I guess I need to get one scheduled and see if that is my problem. Where is the camber adjustment on the rear?

Look at the picture below for reference. This was posted by someone long time ago and has been very useful to many members including myself. Sometimes it's difficult to remember which is which (camber or toe in/out). HTH.

so I assume the bolt is loosened and looks to be a slotted opening behind it for adjustment. Which way of travel for lessing the negative camber (assuming I am correct on the other part of what I said)?

If you look very closely at the bolt in the spring plate (pic in previous post), you'll notice the bolt have some sort of marking. You need to know the location of the cam lobe to get optimum adjustment. I have attached another picture of the bolt with some marking (punched & painted).

To adjust your rear trailing arm for alignment, you need to loosen several bolts namely, toe-in/out, camber, and the two (2) trailing arm bolts. The direction of turning the adjustment bolts depend where the lobe is located during adjustment and which side of the car you're doing the adjustment. A CW or CCW instruction is not applicable for this kind of work.

Thanks Tony, this is starting to sound more like one for a shop... or wait until I have a local friend who has done it before. I will see if my Bentley makes it all more clear to my thick skull.
