Crankcase Breather question

I have a 71 911 T. The crankcase (oil) breather located on top and in the middle of the engine has a sensor? with 2 wires coming out. What is this device? I was looking at the breather hose thinking I should replace it when I noticed the above mentioned thing. Is it some sort of left over smog crap?

Re: Crankcase Breather question

Thats the thermo-time switch "helping" with the cold start enrichment on MFI (and CIS) equiped cars. These things seem to warp causing oil leaks. Might be that the PO changed it.
