Rookie Tranny Install
I am getting ready to mate my 3.0 to a 915 and reinstall. I want to make sure I grease the right locations. I have attached some pictures and would greatly appreciate someone identifying where to grease. To the extent you can also describe what I am seeing in the picture, that would be great so that I make sure I have the correct terms.

How do you remove/install pilot bearing? What about the grease?

Basically, you want to grease any moving part, aside from the flywheel itself. The pilot bearing is a damn good idea to replace - a failed one caused my rebuild, and it's pretty cheap. It just pops in and out. It's what the splined shaft in your 3rd pic will slide into when you mate them.

The pilot bearing sits in the center of the flywheel; remove, clean, inspect, replace if necessary and lube with EP2 grease or Moly. Remove the guide tube (Picture #3) and replace the O-ring inside. Lube the outside of the guide tube and the inside of the release bearing and the splines on the input shaft. Dismantle the cross-shaft (Picture #4), inspect the bearings and seals, replace if necessary. Clean and inspect the fork for wear and cracks. The Bentley explains terminology of the parts with pictures and what to lube. Judging by the grime and dirt, the disc and release bearing may need replacing? Does the disc still have enough life left on the lining? Release bearing still smooth? How many miles on the clutch? Make sure to engage the fork into the release bearing when assembling.
