As you guys know, Leland can't post directly...so guys, I'm passing this on...to you from one of our guys in the big sandbox.
Hey Paul, I just wanted to drop a line and say that all is well. Yesterday we got mail and my boss yelled out "Pate!!...you've got mail!" I said what is it? and he said, "looks like some sort of flag" I took the box and saw it was from Bob, Venezian Blau 87, from the Pelican. I ripped it open with grinns growing by the moment to find a 3'x5' PORSCHE flag! I proceded to make a complete fool of myself by jumping around the room screaming "No way!" I took it back to our hooch (tent) to try to find a good place to hang it. This took more effort than I thought. The flag is now the centerpiece of my bed-space. It doesn't even matter that I have always wanted this exact same type of flag hoping that one would some day grace the walls in my garage. It is almost as if Bob read my mind! Bob is now my personal hero! I lay in bed at night staring at the flag above my head until I go to sleep. It has become something rather special to me. It's not just a car manufacturers emblem, it stands for more than that to me. It symbolizes a favorite hobby, an expensive one at that, but it means something more. In simple terms, that flag symbolizes Friendship. I think about the way you guys have supported me and the others who are deployed and I can do nothing but shake my head in awe. Never in my life have I experienced this type of friendship nor felt so incredibly humbled by it. I get borderlined choaked up. Believe it or not. I wanted to thank Bob for the flag and make a feable attempt at thanking him. Can you please forward this message to him and relay my many thanks to the other board members for all they have done to make our lives over here much more enjoyable? I wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving as well. [Pate Leland SrA (Deployed)] |

keep up your spirits, Leland!
Leland, I think I speak for many, if not all of the regulars on this BBS when I tell you how much your freindship means to us as well. You are a truly decent person, and wise beyond your years. According to polls, the country supports your efforts with pretty overwhelming numbers, FWIW, and the war seems to be going well. Fingers crossed and all prayers that it stays that way with no loss of our soldiers.
Be safe and hurry home so that we can all work on our 911's and drive them together through this great BBS. ![]()

Thanks for all the kind posts guys. Such a little thing for us, but for guys in a war zone, it has to mean a lot! I've cut & pasted, passed it on to Leland. It'll make his day in a hell hole better, I'm sure. Again, thanks! Paul
