Question boxster wheels on a '69 - '73 911??

I met a fellow at Lime Rock last week who is running 16" Boxster wheels on a '73 coupe. The wheels + spacers have 225/50/50 DOT R tires and they dont rub. He said they handle much better than 205s on stock wheels..
Have any of you fellows run this combination? Does it lead to bearing wear or possible failure?
Thanks, BB

maybe he had the 7" fronts all around. i can't see the wider, 8.5" rears under a 73 without going to the carrera rear flare.
