I have original Porsche red leather (can can) seats on my '86 911. They have plastic piping (I've been told). The piping is discolored (turning white), probably from the sun. Can the piping be dyed? If so, with what? I want to avoid replacing the piping or the seats due to cost.

I asked about that for one of my cars and was told that typically, contrasting piping is simply replaced, not dyed or painted. It's apparently pretty simple to sew on.

On my linen leather seats with red piping, I used a red leather dye and small paint brush to cover the slight wear that was evident - no problems since.
