replacement wheel lugs question
Hi All,
I purchased some replacement lug nuts from ebay. The ad stated they were for porsche. As you can see from the photos, the ball seat is not as wide as the OEM ones. The thread size is correct though. Would I be right in guessing its unsafe to use these? Even though the wheel is aligned with the hub by the ring on the hub and not the lugs? I guess they look crap anyway... ![]()

Well, given that they are made by god-knows-who (China!) out of god-knows-what (melted Budweiser cans!), I wouldn't use them if you gave them to me for free.
Now that you have posted the profile photo, it looks like they have a conical seat, not a spherical one. Definitely don't use those... For critical fasteners, I prefer to use the originals. JR |

damn.... my quest for red lug nuts just keeps getting harder haha....
I wonder if it would be expensive to paint them myself and get them anodized..

Painting them wouldn't cost much. Or you could take some stock black ones to a good plater and have them stripped and re-anodized in red.

Two things:
A. The nut on the right doesn't have a ball seat, it has a conical seat B. take a look at this wheel failure Fuchs wheel center failure and compare the set of the lug nuts with the way your new lug nuts fit in the bores. My guess is these wheels were run hard with conical lug nuts in a wheel made for spherical lug nuts. Note that the failure isn't across the petals (which is more common) but through the mounting holes.
