stretched threads
On a valve adjustment, I may have overtightened the lock nut and stretched the threads. Can that threaded part (elephant foot?) be replaced? Of course it can so the question rather is, what work is required to replace that part?
|
hello
if you did stretch them out you would need to remove the rocker shafts in order to replace the foot. in your case here i would replace one at a time bring that cylinder to TDC and remove the rockers and then adjust the new ones as you go then after you have finished run through them all one more time and you should be good. you need to two allen wrenches to do this job cant remember the size but would recommend the rocker shaft o-rings while your in there. cheers ed |
Dumb question
Hi
How do you remove the rocker arm Thanks Ian |
Wouldn't the lock nut be the weakest part?

Sorry I should have written rocker not rocker arm - need to replace a foot ( Yep I stretched the thread on the first go at valve adjustment - Doh!)
