Has anyone sold a car to German buyers?

So I've had quite a few gentlemen contact me and view my car. It looks like there are quite a few Germans in town buying up Porsches for export.

Has anyone sold a car to one of these German buyers? Is there anything to look out for? I ask because after viewing the car, one of these buyers has made me a offer I agreed upon and it is now time for the payment/delivery side of the deal.

Thanks!

A couple years back I sold my 1990 C2 to a German, Got cash on Friday, he had it in a shipping container on Monday. My concerns were with the state of CA. They needed a form filled out as to why it was not going to be re-registered in CA.

IMO - I wouldn't deal with anything other than tranfer of funds or cash. If you get cash, take the buyer and the cash to your bank to make sure it is real.

Car is theirs once money is good.

Similar experience. Germans here to buy cars. Paid in cash, I signed over the title, had them fill out the DMV (for Cal) form stating the car was sold to them (I mailed it in), car was picked up the next day. No problems.

Thanks guys. He wants to do a transfer to my account which is relatively safe. He says shipping company will take care of the rest. I met him inperson.

My bank advises opening a special account just to receive funds like this. It will prevent any attempt to use the account information to empty your account. The buyer simply transfers the funds directly to your "new" account and then the bank immediately sweeps the money into your normal account. A minor hassle to you, but cheap insurance against some possible scams.

Yes! I already did this in fact. I am having the money wired to one of my minor account, once funds appear I will transfer them to my main account.
