Windshield refresh?

Can a windshield be buffed/re conditioned? My 82 has the original heated windshield, and while it is perfectly serviceable, it does have some pitting.

Are there any sources for orginal new or used windsheilds of this vintage with the heating elements in them?

Thanks
Scott

Glass polish will also make a difference. Don't expect it to look new though. I think there was a thread about this recently.

EDIT: found it: Polishing scratches out of windshields
