what is this hose on the airbox?

my other airbox from 1969 doesn't have the connectors or hose shown in the picture below. Is this a spark arrester or what and why do some have them and others don't. Also does it connect to anything in the engine bay?

thanks

Cold start injection lines...your housing came with metal tubes with squirt holes...designed to squirt raw gas when cold starting. A dumkoft design, it caused more than a few engine fires back in the day. Do NOT rehook it.

In the '72 models, the design is safer with the gas being injected into the MFI stacks at a lower point.
