I am considering replacing the stock seats in my 86 Carrera. With all the options available I am not sure what type of seat to install. I hit a couple of DE's a year, a few AX's and do much pleasure cruising. I want something reasonably confortable. I was hoping some of you could share some of your experience with various seats and what you did and did not like about them.
Thanks! BK |

Check out the seats Jack has, they are pretty sweet.

I forgot to mention... I am on somewhat of a budget. I can't afford to refinance my house for seats! Some background: The seats in my 70 Targa are shot. Since I plan on tracking my 86 Carrera, I figure I could use the hand me down approach. Carrera gets racing seats, Targa gets Carrera seats. But I am worried about my butt going numb on extended cruises around town.

I would recommend either the Sparco "Evo" or "Rev" models. I have the Evo's with 5-point belts, and once you are strapped in, you definitely feel one with the car!

Go Recaro.
The Pole Position is entry level seat and will not break the bank. No race seats are comfortable they are made to really hold you tight. The Pole position is made for people with slightly larger arses, like me. BIG recommendation, dont buy ANY seat before you have tried it for width. You can get runners off the shelf for this seat too. Another issue you may have id putting the seats from a '70 into an '86, I believe the runners are completely different.
