MFI Barometric cell question

I took mine off and started the car. Anyone ever done this? Lets just say the car runs like crap if you do. My question is this: Why is there 3 very thin washers(shims). Why 3 and not 1 or 2. What do they do. I tried looking it up under the tech articles but, nada.
Thanks

I'm guessing that those would be used to calibrate the barometric cell; add more washers if the plunger goes too far down and remove washers if it doesn't go far enough in a a predetermined benchmark barometric pressure. Probably set by the boffins at Bosch (or by Gus?).
Just a guess, but sure sounds elegant.
