Post whate are those stud things on the cylinder heads?

I noticed some studs sticking out from the bottom of the cylinders on my 78 sc, can anyone tell me what they are?

They are where an air pump line has been disconnected. It pumped fresh air through those holes to "complete" the emission burning off process and also it would have helped dilute the emmissions.
