Wiper attachment
This is driving me crazy. Does anyone know the sequence of the wiper attachment stuff? I can't see the metal washers up against the body. I would think one of the rubber bushings would go there. I've laid out the parts as it appears in Pelican's diagram. What's wrong with this picture? '74 911 ROW.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1265687467.jpg

First - the parts - It looks like you have all of them, minus a spring washer for the top nut.
I checked the PET catalog, but it doesn't show the body. Should the first washer (rightmost in pic) and the first bushing fit under the body - so that you'd wind up with the rubber bushings sandwiching the body? Is that the question? Was the wiper system removed at some point (and then the last 2 items removed) perhaps? |
Thanks for the insight. Can anyone confirm the sandwich method (seems to make sense)?
When I had purchased the car it was in the condition shown without the attachment pieces. I suppose the PO could have removed the wiper system and removed the two pieces underneath as described. |
no prob - sorry I couldn't give a definitive answer - am assuming the washer diameter is larger than the hole.
I checked Bentleys too and they don't show or include the body "layer" in their figures either. hopefully someone else can shed some light? |
Well, I dug all the way in and you are correct....the washer and bushing do go underneath the 'body'. Now I get to do a bunch of clean up...re-grease, clean electrical, etc. Thought I would show since I have been unable to find using search.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1265948216.jpg

wow - good for you! - too bad about the extra work but it looks like you'll have it all sorted out.
Thanks for posting too. on edit: I'm still wondering - does the washer get threaded on? I mean, what keeps it from falling down on the threaded shaft beneath the 'body'. Or does it match up well with the body underside when you slip the whole shebang back into place? |
