Leland Update - Pelican's foreign conquest

Leland writes:

"Hey thought you guys might like to see the Porsche Flag flying high above my bed. Most of the guys sleep on cots in sleeping bags...well, you know me, I have higher standards than that, as is evident in the type of car I own, so I built my own bed out of Plywood, pallets, and some old mattresses I found in DRMO. Pretty spiffy huh... "

I want to know what he needs that double bed for? Arabs don't take kindly to westerners messing with their women

Yeah Paul. And that looks suspiciously like a ... it is!!! It's a GOLF SHIRT! And I don't think it's GI! Just how much sand practice is Leland getting over there?

Did Leland make all that furniture too? (bookcase/shelf) I even liked the "EOD" monogram on his bedhead!

It's good to see that Lee ie comfortable whilst over in that armpit of the earth, but I have to ask...

What in the world is that big white tube behind his bed?

The big white tube is the ventalation system in the tent. It's hooked up to a "portable" (with a fork lift) heater/airconditioner. They work pretty good but they will only cool the air 20 deg. less than the outside temp. But thats much better than nothing!!!!!

As for the furniture. You would be amazied what people build for there tents over there. When ever I go I always take a hand saw, and hammer and nails! One trip over a friend of mine made a sofa and entertainment center complete with tv, vcr, play station and mini fridge!!!!

Could someone ask Leland if he needs anything from the BX or clothing sales for me. Thanks!!

Question

Jason, or anyone, what is a "DRMO" as in Leland's message?
Looks like he has access to a VHS player, for sure.

Jack, thanks for posting that image.
I'm sure all the SCWDP members are pleased our Founder is keeping as comfy as can be, given his situation.
Stay safe in your duties, Leland!

Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office. It is where the military uloads the crap it no longer needs. When I was in the Navy, the DRMO on base had the biggest most diverse collection of junk I have ever seen. Everything from old uniforms and boots to office furnature and even jeeps.

DRMO is also the reason that everyone in the AF has a beer fridge in there garage!!!!!!!

They are great places to look for junk. A friend of mine got a 4x4 blazer for $100. Can't beat that!

That area looks to me like it could have been a pic from Pappy's " Black Sheep" squadron or a pic from the set of McHale's Navy or even Hawkeye's "Swamp".

My uncle who is a WW2 vet said that there was a lot of little units out in the boonies like Mc Hale's Navy during WW2.

Hey Lee, you got some explaning do to!
