2004 porsche 911 carrera

I found this advert humorous... If you are the owner... dude... just sell the car!

Well... it seems like a good market for time shares. lol

herr_oberst 02-10-2010 08:45 AM

hmmm. . . . I'm just trying to wordsmith a similar ad for my car:

"You too can own timeshares in a well maintained classic impact bumper Porsche! Six months are still available - August (unfortunately, no A/C in this car, but Oregon heatwaves aren't too brutal.), November, December, January, February, March and April - Your Choice!

2000 per month plus deposit!

Actually these are great months to drive in SOCAL... You may be on to something here...! :D

who in their right mind would pay over $1000 per month just to drive a car? porsche or not the only way i would do that was if i went to the track every single day of my 4 weeks and beat the hell out of it with no regard for the well being of the car, and had more money that i could possibly spend.

Gogar 02-10-2010 09:37 AM

Yes it does seem kinda dumb to time-share a 996 for $4000 a month if I could lease a brand new 997 for about $1k a month.

minoclan 02-10-2010 10:23 AM

If it happens, it confirms the theory that there is a sucker born every minute.

I read it as $4000 to buy 1/12, plus $200 per month. (1200-1000 if returned undamaged)

So how close is Plantation to a racetrack? This would make a really inexpensive 'winter track rental' for someone like me who lives in the cold.

Never have understood why people lease vehicles....?

FenderGuy 02-10-2010 10:53 AM

Sounds like they have time shares and cars mixed up. Is someone needing to make a payment?:D

LOL 48k a year. Madoff is doing business from his prison cell!!

euro911sc 02-10-2010 01:20 PM

Plantation is driving distance to Daytona, Sebring, Homestead, and Palm Beach International Raceway!! All of whom do track days YEAR round :)

I also read it as $4k + $200/month used BUT FOR LIFE... So what kind of comp. do I get when someone else smashes the car up? Who pays the deductible? what happens when I use up the set of rears in the 1st week of my share... then use up the second set the weekend after ;) who picks the tires that get put on the car? yada yada yada the questions go on and on and on...

Exotic Car Rental Miami: Our exotic car rental fleet, available in Miami, Orlando, Fort (Ft.) Lauderdale, Naples, Tampa, Palm Beach & beyond

^ these guys charge $10k a week for some of their cars and they don't even offer a Porsche.

WIL84911 02-10-2010 02:54 PM

Here's one close to Vegas I think. 1800 a week for a newer 911S.

PORSCHE 911 "S" CONV $50 Reservation Deposit Rates: One Day $399 / Multi-Day $299 / Weekly $1795: Rent-A-Vette Phoenix

an asset that is guaranteed to go down in value. especially after 12 knuckle heads are done with it.

I think this is a better bang for your buck:

Passo Tourismo | Roadtrip | Porsche Rentals | Alpine Adventures | Alps

My dad is going to get one of their trips for his 79th birthday (my gift to him). He'll be stoked!:D

Lets ignore if it is a smart thing to do, I would be really curious as how the title to the car is handled.

If you use your vehicle for business you get a better write-off. Also when you lease you only pay sales tax monthly and for the duration of your lease contract, whereas when you buy you sales tax on the full price of the vehicle and in advance you.
It is not for everyone, and YMMV.:)

This is common practice with airplanes because of high purchase price and high maintancne cost.
While some cities encourage car "sharing" programs $1,000/month on "rental" plus $200/month for maintenance for a used Porsche is just plain silly IMHO.

Just sitting in the garage the price on a plain vanilla 996 is dropping like a rock. It already is, hence the creative "sale" attempt.
