Problems with pressure bleeder
Well, I finally finished my front wheel bearings and it feels great, a corner balancing and alignment and we'll be all set.
[Some tricks that worked: I put saran wrap under the resevoir cap and tightened it back down and used hose-crimp pliers-hardly lost a drop of brake fluid, Also freezing the races and heating the hub to 350 deg made removal/install quick. The hub was put on 2x12 boards with a junk rotor bolted on. I also put a griding wheel on the old races to take of a few thousanths, flipped them upside down and used them to 3# hammer in the new ones- work fast, hit hard and evenly.] When I put the pressure bleeder on about 5 pounds, fluid started pouring out the front end around the winshield washer resevoir area- my guess is that the hose pressure-fitting from the resevoir to the Master cylinder lost just enough seal to piss all the fluid into the frame that flowed forward onto the floorevenly and sealed itself up again (I didn't lose any more fluid from the resevoir after that). What technique seems to work best on old 911s (1 person). Mity Vac? Gravity bleed? |

Yeah, I agree with Matt. The Motive power bleeder I ordered from PP is great. I haven't used it on my '87 911 yet but used it for the first time yesterday on my '00 Jetta. Worked like a charm.
