1970 911s roller matching numbers

Gentlemen, once again you come across another one with all the hopes and dreams of building up this classic. No resources available. I've had it in my garage for well over 20 years. The fellow I bought it from had torn everything apart including the engine. The only things missing are the carbs or mfi. I know without pictures it's hard to estimate, but what would be a ball park if I wanted to sell this? It has the usual rust in the front suspension pan. Engine, transmission, and chassis all match. Would ebay be a good venue for this? Thanks

You'll need pictures for Ebay, so get busy.

Seriously, this is called a basket case. Your documentation of what's there will determine the price. The first question is how extensive the rust is, as that's most expensive to repair. You will have to have a lot of pictures to show that. The second question is if all the parts are there and if they are correct. It would be wise to lay all the stuff out, take pictures and run a spread sheet tally on everything that's there.

Unfortunately, without the above information, you can't get anyone to give you a price estimate, leave alone a serious offer.

I'll give you 5k.

George

Thanks for your responses. Let me post some quick pictures to substantiate the numbers. I'll get some others up when I can. I'm not sure I found the right number on the transmission, I know this is a part number.

Where is the car located? I suspect someone local can help you evaluate the condition and estimated worth. I would be happy to help if you are in central TX.

The transmission should be a type 911/01 as stamped under the differential on the bottom of the case. You posted the casting number.

The engine number is in the right range for the chassis.

I can see that the gas tank support has been partially removed for repair. The car looks like it would need a total restoration. What was the original color? Looks like a yellow or gold color based upon the overspray in the trunk. I suspect that red is NOT the original color. Generally a repaint reduces value but if this needs a total repaint it won't matter much.

I agree that $6-8K might be more than I would pay. It would depend on how complete the boxes of parts are, how they were cataloged/inventoried, etc. it would also depend on the condition of the drivetrain. if the motor is disassembled this just adds to the cost of completion. A proper restoration would cost big dollars and many people do not have the cash in this economy.

Looks like major work to be done on your car. Hard to tell what it's worth is by pictures alone. However, I would be interested in looking at your car to purchase and rebuild. If interested, shoot me an email. Thanks.

The original color is a dark brown and it was sprayed with the guards red before I bought it. Yes total restoration would be needed. I'm in Raleigh, NC

A Euro 2.2S Targa in what appeared to be better condition sold for $3000 recently. Given restoration costs that might be a good starting point for you.

I think the car is worth more sold together than in pieces regardless of the shape it is in.

I sent you a PM .. I would be interested in the whole car . I used to race out of Moorseville NC and have plenty of Porsche friends there that could look at the car for me . I am restoring a car in Lexington right now so I am in NC ever couple of weeks.

I am legit and won't waste your time so if you are serious about selling I would not be a bad person to talk to.

a #'s matching S is worth a minimum of $10K regardless of condition.
even in these tough times.
pictures would help to get an accurate value.
put it on flea bay to maximize your bucks, the europeans will see it and they've got money to burn it seems.
i wish i had the $.
