fiberglass to metal ducktail technique
I recently aquired a nice fiberglass top and a metal frame and I am looking for proper techniques to glass them together. How did the factory assemble them? Has anyone done one that can offer any information on the best materials and method for assembly. Thanks

You may want to ask on the 'Paint & Bodywork' forum.
I remember reading a technique for bonding fiberglass flares to the steel quarters, I would assume the materials & methods would be the same. Please post pics of your progress! |

Have Gary Stratton do it.
If you have seen or know Gary's work; you know he is very good at doing just that. He's a nice guys {know's everyone in S.Calif from the '70s, Florida, and within the Porsche/Pelican family} At least send him an email or put it in the correct forum. Just search "Duck Tails" you'll fine him.

You will want to read this:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/443263-fiberglass-sux-how-ruin-2-deck-lids-2-days.html My adventure bonding an early turbo style to metal lid. Turned out well, but its a lot of work. Half dozen track days and 6k miles on it with no issues. -Michael
