Gosh, it seems like every few months I have to dig up this post and resurrect this topic. Anyways, without counting my chckens before they hatch, we're hiring.
This is an antry-level position (no Phd's or nuclear scientists apply please). This person will be working on expanding our website content on the Ecommerce side. I can't really disclose too many details of our future plans (shhhh!), but I can say that this person will be in charge of developing and expanding an entirely new line of business for Pelican. Salary range will depend upon experience, and as all of you know, there is tremendous room for growth. You can email me for more details. This position will require you to be located in our headquarters in Los Angeles. Don't bother emailing me if you want to work from home in Boise, Idaho (I must get 20-30 emails from people like this each time I place an announcement). Let me repeat: this position is located in El Segundo, and you need to be in the office every day. Okay, enough on that. For more information, email me your resume, or fax it off to me at 310-640-2632. Also, please pass this note onto anyone that you think might be interested. Thanks for your support! -Wayne

Warren should apply!
He already puts in 9+ hours per day anyways (seemingly even without a lunch break!), for free. He might as well pick up 24,000 per year while he's at it. |

I wonder why, Wayne, that you don't want remote users? I do development from home all the time as a consultant...works out great. The client gets 100% effort from me and I get to work in my underwear. What more could be better?
Seriously, there's nothing wrong with telecommuting. Lots of folks do it.

Hmmm...i'm telecommuting as often as i can. Actually, i cracked the hardest nuts sitting home in front of my computer in my underpants with a pizza by my side
. Ahh...those were the days...the joy of creative programming... Nowadays everyone want's one to sit at work 9-5 in newly pressed shirt and tie and churn out words like "e-commerce!" , "CRM!" , "Middleware!" , "Low hangin' fruit!" .... Fortunately, hype is slowly working itself out of the industry and old magic is comming back...

Wayne,
Check out my resume at http://www.bradway.net/ebradway/resume.html I'm probably alot more than you need but I am currently unemployed and will relocate if the potential is there. Do heed what the other folks are saying. I've telecommuted fulltime for the past six months and I've found it to only work out for the best. However, I'm sure you are looking for someone to be an active part of the Pelican shop and extend the team flavor to the website. -Eric

Forgot to mention, that the computer skills required are minimal. Our software here (written by yours truly) is very easy to use. Car knowledge is more important than any programming skills.
This is not a thread on telecommuting. It will not work for this position. You will need to interact with many different people, and use the computer system from inside the shop. DSL and cable modems are too slow for what we will be doing. Trust me, I work all the time from home, and there are things (like the catalog work I did this afternoon), that just cannot be done from home. -Wayne

Hey Island911 - - -
- This is a left coast position - working in your underwear is OK, but you gotta be wearing roller blades too! Gold chains optional but body studs are mandatory. ![]() Chuck |
