Clock Repair 83 SC

Does anyone know the value of the two electrolytics on the PC board in 83 Clock. VDO doesn't put values on any of their components. (wonder why) I put two 220uf at 16 V in mine and it is running. Will take 24 hrs or so to check for accuracy. I have checked it to 15 minute accuracy, it's ok so far.

Robert,
We all know you're a smart guy, but just how did you know the clock needed new caps?

Ha, Well Doug, one cap would sweep...the other wouldn't. But when I heated the defective one up to remove it the clock started running. I had an old Volvo Speedo with a couple of 220s in it. Changed both of the caps in the clock. It has been 9 hrs since the repair and it's good to the minute! Whatasave!!!!

Robert,

How do you take the clock apart? Looks to me like the front facia needs to be removed. I can't see how to remove it w/o boogering it all up.

Any secrets?

Thanks in advance,

Doug '84 911 ROW.

Carefully pry around the band with a small flat screwdriver.

Hello

you can set the clockspeed on the little screw on the back. As far i remeber each mark is a minute in 24 hours. VDO tried to achive swiss precison. Even a change in voltage will not affect the time.
