Blinker housing rebuild
 

I have found several threads about the blinks housing rebuild. The problem that I have is that the reflective paint is spotty. I tried to use silver polish, not so good. I was going to paint the surfaces with chrome paint, but found this online:

Paint your bike / bicycle / gear reflective!

Has anyone tried this? Any reason why it might not work?

Essentially, they take clear coat, spray it on the old reflective surfaces, and then cover the surfaces with reflective glass beads. Thoughts on of this might provide a better reflective surface??

I just finished redoing my 73.5's. They were in bad shape. I wire brushed and sanded the exterior, then coated them in JB Weld. I finished them with Rustoleum Bright Coat Metallic Finish.

Can't say I've used that reflective/glass bead method, but it looks like it would be a good idea. In a pinch I've used the chrome/aluminum duct tape and very carefully cut out the pieces and dimensions required & stuck them in place (this worked cosidering the high temp. in these housings just because of their location). Eastwood looks like it would work too (unfortunately in Canada, it's all but non-existant) & I thought that clear coating usually dulls the finish abit/however slight. I've always wanted a very high reflective clean finish that would withstand the temp. & give a bright light to shine off of, without breaking the bank. It'll be interesting to see some fixes for this.
