Where to find the engine type number?

Trying to determine which engine I have, but cannot find where the type number is stamped, anybody know?

I have found the number on the side of the fan mount, but I am looking for the 930/___ stamp.

Also, I am trying to determine what the differences are between the ROW, 1984 - 1986, and the 1987 - 1989 3.2's?

He SmileWavy

You will find your engine type at the right side of the fan, partially covered by the oil pressure sender (yellow arrow).

You have to clean eventually the alluminium surface and use a small lamp to see better

Feds,
Grady could give you a much better overview than I ever could, but the number you had in your previous post was it. Will Ferch may have confused you a bit. He started out talking about the cars vin#, but if you read after that he cofirms that the engine# 63Fxxxx is an 85 Row engine. You don't need to look for a 930/_stamp.

Thanks.

I do believe that the engine is a ROW engine, however I'm trying to determine if it is the higher compression version of the ROW engines or not.

My understanding (which may not be correct) is that the ROW engines were not all created equal. There is North American and ROW engines, however ROW engines destined for Japan also had the lower compression engines.

The PO told me it had the european high compression engine, however I have since found japanese coins between the seats and other clues that it really came from japan, so I am trying to determine a way to definitively tell if it has the higher compression engine?

I believe the higher compression is due to different pistons, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of other differences?

Also wondering, I have read on here that the ROW transmissions have a cooler, I'm about to change the gear oil and wondering if I have enough as I would imagine the cooler would add to the capacity of the system?

As always, thanks for the input

Hello, I recently bought a 911sc from California. This history is not documented. The carnumber is 9118212222. It has a 930/06 engine but i can not find the engine number on the place indicated above. Should i presume it is a replacement case? Is theer a other place to find a engin id?
