NorCal / Bar Area Independant Shop?
I'm in the process of figuring out how to get my 930 out of Chicago and into California. Looking to see if anyone has any recommended independant porsche shops in the bay area of northern California.
Thanks

Hollerans performance in the bay area. John is really detail oriented and capable of anything from a proper tuneup to a custom twin turbo engine build. He wont be the cheapest but also not the most expensive.

For general stuff...
I'd recommend Don's Autowerks. He has a very long history with these cars. Don's AutoWerks |

Gary Dielacher at GD Racing in San Bruno (650) 742-9322 .About five min from the San Francisco Intl airport. Gary is great with early turbo 911's . I don't think there is anyone any better in the Bay Area.. maybe as good but not better.
I speak from experience . Gary has worked on all my air turbo cars since the early 90s and also built the engine in one of my old race cars that kicked but in Nor Cal . Kevin Buckler and I also drove that car to a GT1R first at the POC Tribute to Le Mans so Gary knows his way around those motors and cars very well.

RMG Enterprises in Sunnyvale...
RMG Enterprises - Home Hands down the BEST shop in the Bay Area for your Porsche...A small shop that's tucked away. Bob will take care of you! Tell him Jayson G sent you, he'll know who you're talking about! And not to badger but I used to go to CT Automotive in San Jose (now Don owns Don's Autowerks) and had a horrible experience there once and that's all it took...good mechanic but poor business practices...

In SF I would recommend "The Stable"

I would still check out GD Racing in San Bruno. There are a lot of recomendations here and I am am sure they are all good. I spoke up because I see you have a 911 turbo... I have been a 911 turbo guy both on and off the track for 30 years so my recommendation comes from experience with this shop servicing the same car you are driving.
Gary also is the only shop owner I know of around here who activley races a 930 based race car so there is some first hand experience on both ends of the spectrum. Best of luck with whomever you choose and welcome to the Bay Area. Here is a little shot of my old "twin turbos" with a little spaghetti sauce ![]() ![]()

I take mine to vanguard motors on 10th st in sf. My dad took the car there when he owned it. So far he has done a pretty good job. He only does Porsche and BMWs. The owner has an 86 Carrera. I'm curious if anyone else has been or goes there.

A big Veto on the Stable in SF. Bad mojo.
Don's Autowerks was great to me and my 88 Carrera and currently takes care of mom's 986S. Great guy, great mechanic. Only heard good things about RMG as well. db
